Microfiction: 2020
We are Living through the Future History Textbooks.
2020 is the year we all expected greatness from. We wanted growth, joy, spontaneity, excitement, & purpose. Turns out, we got played.
Instead, we got: death, protests, confusion, anger, violence, and uncertainty.
With all the new, comes longing for the past.
"Let's go back to the way things were."
But isn't that what got us here? Isn't that how we arrived to this momentous year?
How do we insure we do better as humans, as people? There is a large demand to return to normal.
But after this, do we even know what normal is? Would we even recognize it?
Appreciate the Stillness
2020 has been full of darkness, chaos, and constant change. But maybe in 2021, we will appreciate the calm, the mundane, the boring and never take it for granted again.

note: 2020 has been impossible for so many different reasons. It is hard to see the purpose and to even see the joy. From this year, a new normal will be created. One, i hope, that is filled with empathy, understanding, courage to do what is right, and most importantly happiness.

I am so glad you took the time to write about the worlds current situation. It often times gets lost in everyday life of what we really need to cherish and worry about. This year has taught so many people to hold tight to those close to them and refocus their lives on more important things such as family, rather than the latest trends. Great micro fiction and loved the picture of your grandpa fishing.
ReplyDeleteHi Gabby,
ReplyDeleteI really liked this microfiction because it's something that we can all relate to. I love the fact that you acknowledged that all of this chaos is our new normal- who knows what things will be like in the future with the pandemic and even the state of our country. Nature is one of my big calming points so i totally relate to you on that aspect. Good job with this work!
